Two convicts and an undertrial escaped from a sub-jail at Vasco near here by drilling a hole in the prison toilet, jail authorities said on Wednesday.

The incident occurred last night when Hitler Fernandes and Seby Ferrao, both convicted for double murder and robbery respectively and Abhijit Patil, an undertrial, broke the high security Sada sub jail at Vasco.

"We noticed the jail break after 3 am today. They escaped by drilling a hole in the toilet," Levinson Martins, deputy collector, in-charge of Sada Jail, said.

Vasco Police were intimated about the escape and have launched search operations to arrest them.

Both Hitler and Seby have a history of jail breaks.

Hitler (46), who was sentenced for life in a murder case, had earlier also escaped from the Sada sub-jail two years ago and killed another woman at Joida in Karnataka's Karwar district before being nabbed again.

Seby is convicted for robbery and was amongst the 12 inmates who had escaped from Margao sub jail in 2008 when lockups were opened for customary 'puja' in the jail.

Third accused, Abhijit, was arrested for allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend to death at Margao bus stand, this year.

During the ongoing Assembly session, former tourism minister, Fransisco Mickey Pacheco, who was recently lodged in the Sada sub jail in connection with the Nadia Torrado death case, had alleged that right from laptop to mobiles and liquor, everything was illegally available to the inmates, at a cost, in the sub jail.
