Two policemen of the Andhra Pradesh Special Forces have been arrested for gunning down a 35-year-old man in Dharmastala, in Dakshina Kannada district, 360 km west of Bangalore, on Friday.

Trouble began when a cricket ball hit one of the buses carrying 90-odd Andhra Pradesh policemen back home from election duty. The buses were parked at the Dharmastala Grama Panchayat playground. The players asked the policemen to return the ball and spat broke out which resulted in the sudden shooting and the death of a man.

T. Bhikshumaiah (54) head constable, and P. Suvarna Rama (25), a constable, were charged with murder and rioting and sent to judicial custody for a fortnight by a local court.
