Two cricket betting rackets busted

POLICE BUSTED two cricket betting dens in the City today and arrested seven persons in this regard and recovered Rs 38,200 cash from the culprits accepting bets on the India-Australia match in the ongoing tri-series in Kuala Lumpur. Police also seized betting slips of Rs 9.5 lakh from the two spots.

POLICE BUSTED two cricket betting dens in the City today and arrested seven persons in this regard and recovered Rs 38,200 cash from the culprits accepting bets on the India-Australia match in the ongoing tri-series in Kuala Lumpur. Police also seized betting slips of Rs 9.5 lakh from the two spots.

In the first raid at Somani Nagar, falling under Aerodrome police station, police raided a house owned by Raju Soni and seized Rs 35,000 in cash, satta slips worth around Rs 7.5 lakh and a mobile phone. Apart from Soni, police also arrested Kishor Nathulal Dayal, resident of Ramanad Nagar.

In another raid police busted a cricket-betting racket and arrested five persons. Sadar Bazaar police seized six mobile phones, one television, Rs 3,200 cash and satta slips worth around Rs 2 lakh. The punters were accepting bets for the ongoing cricket match between India and Australia.

Sadar Bazaar TI R S Amb said the arrested persons are Ravi Agrawal, ManoharAgrawal, Vijay Joshi, all residents of Kunwar Mandali, Yashodatt Wagmare resident of Jawahar Marg and Sunil Shrivastava resident of North Yeshwantganj.

Amb said they had received information that cricket betting was going in the house of Ravi Agrawal at Kunwar Mandali. They raided the house and caught the accused red handed accepting and writing bets othe first floor of the hosue. Ravi is a old hand in running satta operations and has been caught earlier also.
