More than two months after seven masked dacoits barged into the house of a retired director of prosecution, Delhi government, in Preet Vihar and murdered his son during the robbery, the east Delhi police have arrested two of the dacoits.
Police said the arrested robbers are members of the notorious Bangladeshi Badshah gang. The gang was also involved in a dacoity case reported from Anand Vihar area. A bounty of R one lakh had been announced by the police for solving the Preet Vihar dacoity-cum-murder case.
The arrested robbers have been identified as Badshah alias Kabir, kingpin of the gang, and Mohammad Tasleem. The gang had murdered Animesh Dutta, son of Sumer Kumar Dutta, before decamping with cash and jewellery worth over R2 lakh. The case was reported at the Preet Vihar police station on April 24.
Ajay Kumar, DCP (east), said the same gang on May 27, had struck at the house of one Dimple Kohli and decamped with cash and jewellery after detaining her and her daughter. “A team of the special staff under Inspector Rakesh Dixit was formed and they were told to neutralize the gang and nab its members at the earliest,” said Kumar.
During the course of the investigation, the team learnt about the involvement of the Badshah gang in the sensational robberies. It was also learnt that most of the gang members have fled to Bangladesh.
“On June 6, we learnt that Tasleem has come to Delhi to commit another crime. A raid was conducted at his hideout and he was arrested. His interrogation helped us to nab Badshah, who had crossed the border to commit more dacoities. He was arrested from a village in Badaun in Uttar Pradesh,” Kumar said.
