DACOIT MALTHU Tomar and his accomplice Golu Khangar were shot dead by Shivpuri police in an encounter near Behagawan village in Shivpuri district early on Sunday.
Malthu and Golu carried rewards of Rs 15,000 and Rs 2000 respectively on their heads. Malthu had escaped from Kakera sub-jail in Shivpuri after slaying jail guard Gabbar Singh with a boulder near jail gate last year.
Shivpuri SP Sajid Farid Shapoo informed that police had received information about the movement of the gang. The dacoits arrived in the village late Sunday night and tried to sexually abuse women members of Lakhan Jatav family.
Unfazed Lakhan resisted the move and fired at Malthu who was injured. Then he informed the police through his mobile phone. By the time police reached Behgawan village the dacoits had already fled.
Police chased them and killed Malthu and his accomplice in ensuing gun battle. Police recovered a 12 bore gun and a .315 country-made rifle along with cartridges from encounter site.
