The 23rd Mango Mela organised by the Haryana Tourism and Horticulture department will begin at Pinjore's historical Yadavindra Gardens on Saturday. Haryana horticulture director AS Saini said, "The two-day mela is an annual event being organised for the past 22 years in which farmers of six states, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh participate."

The major objective of the event was to acquaint farmers with the knowledge to increase production and productivity of their mango crop, besides making people aware about different varieties of mango, he added.

Additional chief secretary of tourism, Vijai Vardhan, said, "For the first time, a craft bazaar is being set up at the mela. Students of State Institutes of Hotel Management would also set up food courts."

Competitions such as kids fashion show, story writing and flash mobs would also be conducted. An elaborate cultural evening would witness performances by Punjabi singer Master Salim in the sufi night, followed by a performance by Swastik band.
