Two persons were killed and three others injured on Expressway after their speeding Innova car rammed into road divider and overturned on Thursday around midnight.

“An Innova car coming from Noida towards Greater Noida dashed into the road divider. It was at very high speed of around 150 kilometres per hour. The high speed could be gauged from the fact that after hitting the 20-metre wide divider and breaking the fencing on either side of the divider, the car turned turtle on opposite road,” said Shailendra Lal, Deputy Superintendent of Police.

“The injured were pulled out by neighbouring villagers and police team. They were rushed to Kailash Hospital. Two of them were declared dead while three others were admitted. Two of the injured were discharged by late evening,” he said.

According to the DSP, the dead were identified as Swati Gupta and Jayesh Basna, who was also driving the car. Swati was sitting in the front seat.

He said the injured were Somya Jain, Prarit Goel and Sanchipta Khandelwal — all from Delhi.
