The Formula One season opener in Melbourne, Australia will feature two Drag Reduction System (DRS) zones, according to Sauber's head of track engineering Giampaolo Dall’Ara.
Dall'Ara was interviewed on the official F1 website www.formula1.com where he revealed the presence of double DRS zones at the 5.303km long Albert Park circuit.
The introduction of DRS in F1 in 2011 led to a record amount of overtaking for an F1 season including the most number of overtaking maneuvers in a race. That record was set at the Turkish Grand Prix, that witnessed 126 overtaking moves.
Despite the record amounts of overtaking, there were some complaints from fans that DRS had made overtaking too easy and artificial as the driver in the leading car was not allowed to activate DRS if a chasing car was one second or less behind.
