Two firearms smugglers arrested

THE POLICE have arrested two miscreants supposed to be the members of inter-state gang involved in smuggling of arms.

THE POLICE have arrested two miscreants supposed to be the members of inter-state gang involved in smuggling of arms.

Police have also recovered two pistols and six live cartridges from their possession. Miscreants have confessed that they had supplied arms to the hardcore criminal Brijesh Yadav and his aide Subhash.

On a tip off, special task force (STF) members swung into action that the illegal arms would be supplied to a party at taxi Stand near Domingarh bridge under the Tiwaripur police station. Members of the STF team reached the spot and waited there for whole day. At around 4 pm, two youths appeared on the site and police officials arrested them.

Accused have been identified, as Dewashish Banerjee, a resident of Rapti Nagar Colony under the Shahpur police station, while another miscreants Suresh Chand Gaur is resident of Santkabir Nagar district. During interrogation, they confessed their crime and involvement in arms’ smuggling.  According to police officials, the accused said they have brought these arms from Siwan district. They have brought the pistols and cartridges to deliver to Vivek Singh of Gorakhpur district.

They have also revealed the names of around half a dozen persons who have demanded the arms and even had made payment.

The accused informed the police that they used to sell pistols for Rs 15000 to Rs 17000. Earlier, they had sent a 9 mm pistol to Subhash, a close aide of hardcore criminal of Brijesh Yadav. Police have identified the person, who has demanded the arms for themselves .
