Gaurav, a student of Nawab Singh Chauhan Gramodaya Inter College, was waylaid by the accused around noon on Wednesday when he was returning from a college in Godha village after appearing for the geography examination, police said. Four of the accused had also appeared for the examination.

According to a police source, Gaurav, the youngest of the three sons of a postman of the village, Girish Chandra Sharma, was first assaulted by the accused with iron rods and hockey sticks.

After he fainted, the accused dragged him behind the motorcycle for almost a kilometre even as hundreds of onlookers gaped in horror. They fled from the spot and locals rushed Gaurav to hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
