Police on Sunday claimed to solve the mystery behind the "disappearance" of an aspiring actress with the arrest of two accused who have allegedly murdered the latter.

Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Ravi Kumar Chowdhary, a production manager in TV and films and his live-in partner, K Vasavi on charges of killing junior artist V Ananthalaxmi.

Ravi Kumar and Vasavi, who were almost broke, conspired to kidnap and eliminate Ananthalaxmi to better their lot, Commissioner's Task Force DCP V B Kamalasan Reddy told reporters.

As per their plan, the duo invited her to their residence on February 28 on pretext of a role and offered her liquor, he said.

When Ananthalaxmi was completely sloshed, Ravi Kumar and Vasavi strangulated her with a saree and took off her gold ornaments, Reddy said.

The duo later put the body in a gunny bag and threw it in a drain near Moosapet here. On the following day they went to Nellore and disposed of the stolen gold articles, he said.

On March 7, Ananthalaxmi's family members lodged a missing complaint at Ramachandrapuram Police Station.
