Two people who allegedly murdered a television actress at Goregaon in April were arrested at the Bandra terminus on Monday. After a tip-off, the Crime Branch sleuths arrested them from the railway station when they were waiting to board a train to go to Bihar.
On April 15, the body of Manisha Agarwal (23) was found in her 11th-floor flat in Jogeshwari, three days after she was killed.
The accused, Sunil Jagdish Singh and Amar Vasudev Singh, are from Bihar's Darbhanga district and will be handed over to the Goregaon police.
Sunil was a servant at Agarwal's house. On April 11, Sunil and Amar smothered Agarwal to death in her flat at Dheeraj residency and dumped her body in the toilet, the police said. The body was found after neighbours complained of a stench coming from the flat.
"Their sole intention was robbery. But after murdering the actress, all they could find was Rs 1,500 and a gold ring worth Rs 5,900 that Agarwal wore," said Joint Commissioner (Crime) Rakesh Maria.
The duo had left for Bihar the next day after committing the crime. "On October 20, they returned to Mumbai in search of a job when their brief stint in Delhi did not pay them dividends," added Maria. When the two were tipped off by their friends that the police were looking for them, they decided to return to Bihar. They were arrested while they were waiting for the train.
Agarwal had acted in television soaps such as
