Two more Students’ Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) members have been arrested by Gujarat Police in connection with the Ahmedabad serial blasts.

“Two more people have been arrested in connection with the Ahmedabad serial blasts,” Joint Commissioner of Police, crime branch, Ashish Bhatia said.

The two, identified as Umar and Salim, are residents of Ahmedabad and are connected to SIMI, police sources said. The total arrests in the July 26 serial blasts have gone up to 16. The alleged mastermind of the serial blasts Mufti Abu Bashir is in the custody of state police.

In another development, the crime branch also named four new suspects involved in the attacks that claimed 55 lives. Alamzeb, Aafridi, Raquib and Mujib are wanted for planting bombs in different parts of the city, a senior police official said. “There are other people involved in the blasts, besides the ones in police custody, who are still at large. We are on the lookout for these four key persons,” Bhatia said.
