Two people have been arrested while transporting 210 kg of ammonium nitrate in Jharkhand's Hazaribagh district, police said on Monday. The chemical is a common ingredient in bombs and mines.

A truck laden with ammonium nitrate was seized Sunday night near Ichak block of Hazaribagh, around 120 km from in Ranchi, and two people were arrested, an official said.

According to police sources, the ammonium nitrate was meant to be supplied to Maoist rebels to make explosives. Earlier, a truck laden with ammonium nitrate was stolen by the rebels in Ramgarh district.
