Two persons were injured in a powerful bomb explosion on the premises of Mehsi railway station in East Champaran district on Monday, police said.
The explosive, wrapped in a coarse towel and hung on a bicycle near the control room of the station, went off at 6.40 am, injuring two persons, identified as Vikas Kumar and Prakash Kumar.
The two were admitted to the primary health centre at Mehsi where they were reported to be out of danger.
Sources quoting eyewitnesses said a man arrived at the station around 5.45 am, chained his bicycle to a pillar and left after loitering around for some time.
The impact of the blast was felt in a radius of about 3 km. A wall of the control room developed cracks and its window panes got smashed as a result of the explosion.
The kind of explosive used for the blast is yet to be ascertained.
Sources did not rule out the possibility of the blast being the handiwork of naxalites who have called an economic blockade to protest the economic policies of the centre, including creation of special economic zones.
