Two children were charred to death in northeast Delhi when their home caught fire late on Saturday, police said.

According to police, three-year-old Gaurav and his one-year-old sister Swati sustained major burns and later succumbed to the injuries on their way to the hospital.

"Both kids were playing on the first floor of their home in Nand Nagri when a bundle of clothes caught fire after coming in contact with candlelight," a police official said. The incident occurred at around 9 pm.
"Fire officials rushed them to the nearby Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital but doctors declared them brought dead," the official added.
