Two children aged about 10 and four were charred to death when a fire broke out in a slum cluster in Chakarpur on Monday afternoon. The area is located behind Mega Mall near DLF.

The victims’ parents, who work as domestic help in the neighbourhood, were at work when the mishap took place. Twelve fire-engines were rushed to the spot. It took around two hours to bring the situation under control.

The two boys, who were taken out of the debris by the fire-fighting team, were rushed to a hospital, where they were declared brought dead. A blast in an LPG cylinder is being ascertained as the cause of fire.

In another incident, one person died when a fire broke out in a building on Old Delhi road. The victim, Gaurav, was an employee of a courier firm.
