Two suspected members of the dreaded Shailendra Paswan gang, which is involved in kidnapping and murder in Jharkhand and Bihar, were killed in an encounter with the police in Bihar's Vaishali district early on Thursday.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided a place at Majirabad Pokhra in Malmala riverine area in Hajipur where suspected members of the gang were planning to commit a crime, sources said.
On seeing the policemen, the armed criminals opened fire and in the encounter, two persons, who were yet to be identified, were killed.
Two pistols and eight rounds of ammunition were recovered from the deceased, sources said, adding other members of the gang managed to flee.
A motorcycle was also seized from the spot, they said.
