Two killed in explosion in Jammu

Two persons, including a child, were killed and eight others of a family were injured in a powerful explosion in their house in Jammu district on Friday.

The explosion took place when a family member was fiddling with some device in the verandah of the house around 0800 hours in Kotli Charak village in Bishnah, 38 kms from Jammu, police said.

A girl identified as Lovely died on the spot and 9 others were injured, three of them critically, they said, adding that one of them later succumbed to injuries in a hospital.

The eight injured, included house owner Harban Singh, his wife, their three sons and their wives. They have been admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital in Jammu. Singh's three sons are serving in the Army and BSF.

SHO, Bishan Police Station, Tahir Bhat said that they were ascertaining the nature of the blast.
