Two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commanders were killed and an army officer injured in an encounter in Handwara, Jammu and Kashmir, on Monday.
Handwara superintendent of police (SP) Maqsood-ul-Zamaan said Abu Huraira, an alleged divisional commander of the LeT, and his deputy, Abu Talha, were shot dead. A Major-rank army officer was also injured, he said. The operation was conducted on a tip-off about the presence of militants in the house of one Habibullah Sheikh. When a police party approached the house, they were fired upon by the militants.
Police have seized two AK-47 rifles, grenades and many rounds of ammunition from the encounter site.
