Two militants identified as Keisham Thaja and Thangjam Roma of Kangleipak Communist Party-Lalumba (KCP-L) were arrested by police commandos in Manipur's interior Thoubal district, police said on Tuesday.

Commandos attached to Thoubal and Imphal east district police stations during frisking at Thoubal area on Monday evening arrested Keisham Thaja, the police said.

She was sent to Roma at Heirok area in the district.

On questioning, Thaja confessed that she was going to Roma's place following an order from self-styled 'captain' Sarat Singh to find out whether it was safe to hand over six grenades, two revolvers and other explosive materials, the police said.

If the situation was safe, Thaja was to report to Sarat Singh who was to send the explosive materials and arms to Roma's place.

While Thaja was being questioned, Roma rang up Thaja whether her journey was safe or not, the police said adding that commandos immediately rushed to Roma's place at Heirok area and arrested her.

Commandos further tried to contact Sarat Singh but there was no response from him, the police said.

Commandos were still searching for Sarat Singh.

Official sources said more than 150 militants have so far been arrested from various places in 2013.
