Two militants arrested in J&K

Two militants, including one from the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), have been arrested by security forces in Kupwara and Baramulla districts, army sources said on Tuesday.

The JeM militant Tariq Ahmed Rather was arrested by the troops of 22 Rashtriya Rifles from Sopore area of Baramulla district during a search operation earlier in the day. Rather hails from Sopore and has been handed over to the local police for further investigations.

In another incident, troops launched a search and destroy operation at Trehgam in Kupwara, based on the information provided by special task force Karalpura and arrested a local militant Farid Khwaja, a resident of Dardpura.

One AK 47 rifle with three magazines and 90 rounds have been recovered from his possession, the sources added.
