The troopers of 11 Rashtriya Rifles, acting on a tip off, raided the militants' hideout in Haroo-Mahore village in Kishtwar, about 240 km north-east of the state's winter capital Jammu early on Saturday morning, defence spokesperson Lt. Col. S.D. Goswami told IANS.
"After a gun fight of nearly one hour, two militants were killed. They belong to Hizb-ul-Mujahideen," he said.
He also said that a huge quantity of arms and ammunition including two AK-47 assault rifles and grenades were found at the encounter site.
