The identity of two more Kerala militants, who were killed in encounters in J&K on October 7, has been established. One was identified as Mohamed Faiz from northern Kannur district, the other, as Mohamed Yasir from Kochi.
Yasir (previously Verghese Joseph) converted to Islam last year.
“We disowned him when he was involved in some criminal cases. He came to meet his mother three months back. We have no information after this,” said Yasir’s father Alexander Joseph.
Earlier, police had identified two slain militants from the state, Mohamed Fayaz and Abdul Raheem. They suspect that the four were part of a five-member group recruited by the Lakshar-e-Tayyeba and have launched a manhunt for the escaped militant identified as Abdul Jabbar.
Jabbar who is reportedly hiding in the state is a resident of Tirur in Malappuram district and has been missing for the last six months.
