Two Maoists including a woman naxalite have surrendered in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh, police said on Wednesday.

"Deputy Naxal Commander (Baarda Dalam) Mukesh (25) and a woman naxal, Jasaun (16) surrendered before the police last evening," IG RK Vij told PTI.

Both the extremists took the decision to join the mainstream after being dissatisfied with the functioning ideology of the Naxalites, he said.

According to Mukesh, he was forcibly picked up naxalites from his village in Kadakda area in 2005 and given weapons training at the naxal camps.

The teenager girl was also pushed into the naxal stream and was trained in carrying out blasts and other criminal and destructive activities, Mukesh said.
