Two days after a six-year-old boy died after drowning in an open manhole on Sunday, the local authority has ordered covering of all manholes or lamp holes in Faridabad.

Meanwhile, the local police raided HUDA office to arrest the two senior officials against whom an FIR has been registered. But the two officials remained at large.

“I have directed the Superintending Engineer and Executive Engineer to ensure all the manholes or lamp holes are covered in Faridabad,” HUDA Administrator D. Suresh told Hindustan Times.

The HUDA Administrator said he wrote to the Chief Administrator about the accident and said the absconding junior engineer and sub divisional engineer can’t escape their responsibility.

“The two officers have been placed under suspension,” he said. The Sector 55 police had registered an FIR against the two officers for dereliction of duty after Inderpal Singh alias Kaku died after he fell in an uncovered manhole on Sunday night. The two accused officers are Junior Engineer Ganga Ram and Sub Divisional Engineer N.P. Gupta.

Singh and his mother Sudha were returning home in Sector 55 on Sunday when the minor boy fell in the manhole.
