Army troops stationed at a forward post in Mendhar sector of Poonch picked up the movement of two infiltrators with the help of surveillance devices in the wee hours of the day, the spokesman said.

On being challenged, the infiltrators opened fire on the troops, who retaliated. In the exchange of fire, both of them were killed, the spokesman said adding, the slain infiltrators were Pakistanis.

A large quantity of arms and ammunition, including one AK-47 rifle, one AK MS-74 rifle, ten AK magazines, 12 grenades and one radio set were recovered from them, he said and added that some cash in Indian and Pakistani currency were also found in their possession.
