Two persons killed by wild elephants

Two persons, including a 18-year- old boy, were trampled to death by wild elephants in two separate incidents during the last two days in Sundergarh district.

Police said Kedar Rana (18) was attacked by an wild elephant at Bahalpara village on Monday night. As he raised an alarm, villagers came to his rescue and rushed him to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

In another incident, a 60-year-old man was trampled to death by an elephant at Hemgiri area on last Sunday, the police said.

The pachyderm attacked the old man as he went to collect firewood from the nearby forest.
