Alert Army troops on Friday late night eliminated two armed intruders that foiled an infiltration bid to cross over to this side of Line of Control (LoC) in border belt of Mendhar Tehsil of Poonch district.

Giving details, Colonel GS (IW), DK Badola said that “at 1:30 on Friday night, troops of 10 SIKHLI spotted some movement beyond fencing near LoC in Krishna Ghati area. When troops saw two armed intruders approaching towards fencing, the duo were challenged following which, indiscriminate fire was opened from the other side that was retaliated.”

“After an hour long fierce firefight, army troops eliminated both the armed intruders,” informed Colonel DK Badola adding that “though bodies of the slain intruders can be seen but the same has not yet been recovered area is quite far away from the fencing.”

“It seems that the slain intruders were and advance party but after their elimination the group of infiltrators following the duo may have returned,” said Colonel Badola while replying to a query.
