DIVERS ON Friday fished out bodies of two teenaged boys who drowned in a pond atop the hill near Reoti range on Thursday. Having nothing to do and going with the festive mood, both the 13-year old, Neeraj alias Pintu alias Kishore, son of Nandram and Dheeraj alias Chintu son of Subhash, decided to go for a swim to the nearby range which has two or three natural water bodies.

However, the parents got worried when the two did not return by evening and began searching for them. They finally lodged a complaint with the Banganga police on Thursday when their efforts turned futile.

Meanwhile, a local panchayat president informed Sanver police about suspected drowning after a local guard informed spotting a pair of abandoned clothing.

The Banganga and Sanver police teams under the charge of respective TI’s Tarunendra Singh Baghel and Narendra Singh Baraun immediately reached the spot.

The police found the clothes and slippers near the bank but the bodies had not emerged on the surface. Later a search operation was started and TI Baghel helped fish out the bodies from the recesses of the pond.

The bodies were sent for post-mortem to Government Hospital, Sanver. The Sanver police maintain that the area due to its scenic beauty with forested hills and pristine water bodies has become a tourist spot.

As with other spots, which draw tourist interest and seasonal traffic there is no security arrangement. Nevertheless, the incident has turned the festive spirits sour for the bereaved families and also for colony dwellers. The scene at Vijayvargiya Nagar had suddenly changed from joy to gloom at the death of two youngsters just before Diwali.  According to sources like their fathers, the deceased too were close friends.
