Security forces eliminated two terrorists of HM outfit including an area commander while Doda police rescued a 19-year-old girl, who was abducted by armed terrorists on November 29th.
In another separate incident, a woman lost her life during cross-firing between terrorists and security forces in higher reaches of Parshola in Doda district.
"On specific information pertaining to the presence of armed terrorists in Labloo Tha forest area in Nachalana belt of Banihal at Ramban, a joint team of 23 RR and local police launched a massive search operation in forest areas of Labloo Tha on Sunday in the wee hours," said Colonel GS (IW), 16 Corps, DK Badola further adding that "during search, security forces established a contact with hiding terrorists and challenged them to surrender. However, the hiding terrorists opened indiscriminate firing, which was retaliated and resulted into fierce firefight."
"After a two-hour long gun-battle, a search was carried during which bodies of the two terrorists along with arms and ammunition were recovered," informed Colonel DK Badola adding that "one of the slain terrorist has been identified as Qasim Gujjar while the identity of the other terrorist has not been ascertained. The recovery of two AK rifles, 7 AK Magazines and two Radio Sets was made from the possession of slain terrorists."
Meanwhile, SSP Doda Manohar Singh informed that "after five-day long round the clock efforts, police finally rescued a 19-year-old girl daughter of Mohammad Hanief, who was kidnapped by armed terrorists from remote Manu village falling under police station Gundoh."
"The girl was rescued from one of the hideouts of the terrorists that have been identified to be from Lashker cadre. Hunt is on to trace the terrorists that abducted the girl who has been handed over to the family members," said SSP Manohar Singh.
In another incident a woman identified as one Shama (24) daughter of Ghulam Hassan lost her life in a cross firing between armed terrorists and security forces. The encounter was in higher reaches of Parshola in Doda when the woman suffered bullet injuries.
