Two wins boost Star Club chances for semi-final

STAR CLUB won both the matches on Saturday in the YC-J S Anand Adroit Trophy Twenty20 cricket tournament being played at Yeshwant Club.

In the first match, Star Club defeated Indore Sports by seven wickets. Batting first, Indore Sports scored 155 runs. Kunal Goswamy scored 43 runs with five boundaries and two sixes. Satish Chourasia, Ajay Lambhate and Sohail Hassan captured two wickets each.

In reply, Star Club surpassed the required runs losing just three wickets to win the match. Ashuthosh Sawner scored a hurricane 56 with nine boundaries and one six while Shadab Ali scored 42 with two sixes and four boundaries.

In the second match, Star Club beat Sri Ram Sports by five wickets. Batting first, Sri Ram Sports scored 141/9 in 20 overs. Rahul Vyas smashed 59 with six boundaries. Shadab Ali and Ajay Lambhate took two wickets each.

In reply, Star Club reached the target losing five wickets. Ashutosh Ranwer scored 41 with four sixes and three boundaries while Rahul Bhat scored a brisk 42 with three sixes and four boundaries.

Teams qualified for the quarterfinal league matches in Group-A are CCI, Vijay Club, Indore Colts and MYCC. In Group-B, the qualified teams are hosts Yeshwant Club, Sri Ram Sports, Star Club and Indore Sports. In Group-B, Star Club has won both their matches to strengthen their position to qualify for the last four.
