After being sworn-in as chief minister of Uttarakhand, Vijay Bahuguna on Tuesday night said the crisis in the state's ruling Congress in the wake of revolt by Congress leader Harish Rawat and other party MLAs would be resolved and that he would be able to win back their support.
"Harish Rawat has always fought against communal forces like VHP. This is not a revolt. It is just a family affair and we will be able to solve it," Bahuguna told reporters in Dehradun.
Expressing optimism that he would be able to win back the support of Rawat, he sought to downplay the crisis saying such matters do occur in various homes and parties.
"This is not a big issue. Such matters do occur in our homes," he said.
When pointed out that a majority of the party MLAs were absent in the swearing-in ceremony, Bahuguna said "it is not a matter of number. All of them are members of our family. We will win back their support.
"It is not a fight for chair but it is fight in the office. The worst fight had occurred in BJP which forced BJP to change its leadership several times", Bahuguna said.
Bahuguna also said he would review the financial position of the state on Wednesday and for this he has convened a meeting of the high officials.
"My top priority will be to fulfill all our promises which were made during the election"” he said.
