Election Commission is yet to receive the full report in connection with poll code violation cases against Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray and MNS chief Raj Thackeray, Election Commissioner SY Quraishi said on Wednesday.

“We have not received the full report. In some cases, FIRs have been lodged, as a result of which it has become a judicial matter,” Quraishi told reporters in Mumbai.

In the poll violation case against actor-politician Govinda, the state Chief Electoral Officer is expected to submit a report to the Commission tomorrow, he said.

The EC has also decided to reduce polling hours in Naxal-affected Gadchiroli and Bhandara districts by two hours. The polling there would be from 7 am to 3 pm, he added.

So far, 157 cases of violation of model poll code have been filed in the state, Quraishi said. “No serious case has been brought to the attention of the Commission as yet.”

Quraishi, who reviewed poll arrangements in the state, said there was adequate security for conduct of polls in Maharashtra. He also discussed the issue with representatives of political parties, senior police officers and collectors.
