Prahlad Das, father-in-law of United Liberation Front of Asom chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa, is one of 247 aspirants for the 40 seats in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC).

He submitted his papers for the Baganpara constituency in western Assam's Baska district on Wednesday, the last day of filing of nomination for the second BTC polls slated for April 9. Das, an independent candidate, insisted he had no connection with the Ulfa and had not been in touch with his son-in-law. His nomination, locals said, has added colour to the 'election season' otherwise marked by bloodshed and parting of ways between Congress and its ruling ally in Assam, Bodoland Peoples' Party.
