A ULFA militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in Arunachal Pradesh on Monday official sources said.
Acting on a tip off, troops of 19 Kumaon Regiment intercepted the militant at Modal Ghat, a river crossing on the Nao Dihing river.
When asked to stop, the militant opened fire but the security personnel retaliated, killing him on the spot.
The slain militant was identified as a self-styled second lieutenant Rudro Barua alias Bikram Bora of the outfit's 709 Battalion and he was on a mission to meet top leaders of 28 Battalion in the Manambhum Reserve Forest to allegedly coordinate sabotage and terrorist activities, the sources said.
The troops of the 19 Kumaon Regiment unearthed an ULFA hideout in Manabhum forest on Sunday and a large number of recoveries were made, the sources added.
