Uma?s party trying to woo BJP leaders

india Updated: Oct 09, 2006 15:45 IST

THE BHARATIYA Janshakti is trying to woo disgruntled BJP leaders in Bada Malehra with the hope of fielding one of them in case it fails to find a suitable candidate from its fold for the constituency. Party sources said that the Janshakti leaders were in touch with Lalita Yadav, who was denied ticket by the BJP and Ramnath Yadav. The party appears inclined to field a yadav candidate to counter BJP’s Jain card with yadav-lodh factor.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and other senior BJP leaders held parleys on Sunday to discuss Vidisha and Bada Malehra by-polls. Chouhan, Vidisha election affairs in charge Anil Dave, party’s nominee for Vidisha Rampal Singh held a meeting in CM’s office and later at the State Party office, which was also attended by Vidisha and Raisen district BJP presidents.

Chouhan and the leaders discussed the canvassing schedule and senior national leaders’ programmes in Vidisha and Bada Malehra constituencies among other things.

Chouhan, Dave, Sunderlal Patwa, Rampal Singh, Babulal Gaur met the State BJP organising general secretary Kaptan Singh Solanki separately. The CM later visited Patwa’s residence and spent nearly half an hour with the veteran leader.
