Union minister of state for HRD Ram Shankar Katheria had a close shave on Tuesday when he stepped out of his house, located inside the campus of Agra University, during a firing incident in the varsity.

National Student Union of India (NSUI) party members opened fire at an Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) supporter in Khandari campus on Tuesday.

The victim Durgesh Thakur said he had come to get some documents approved from the minister at 12.30 pm. “I was sitting alone in the garden near the residence of Dr Katheria, when NSUI supporters Ajeet Singh, Dharmendra Chahar, Manish Gautam, Amit Singh and 20 others came and started arguing with me,” he said.

“I ran towards the house of Dr Katheria, who had stepped outside and before I could say anything, a bullet was fired, which narrowly missed me and Dr Katheria,” Durgesh alleged. He said he was on target since the recent university polls.
