Nisar Ahmad of Baramulla on Sunday took his five-member Muslim family to the Saint Mary's Catholic Church at Gandhi Nagar to celebrate the Christmas Eve.
Nisar's children Suhail, Humaira and Salik all aged below 12 were as enthusiastic about Christmas as they are about the Muslim festival Eid while his wife who does the Hijaab (cover her head with a scarf) ensured that the children stepped into the Church with reverence.
Nisar, an AO with the Forest Protection moves with the Darbar (civil secretariat) from Srinagar to Jammu and has enrolled his children at the Christian Missionary, Saint Joseph School at Baramulla.
The participation of members other than Christians in the Christmas festival has increased over the years and here in the city of temples, the festival attracted Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs.
Like Nisar Jang Bahadur Singh, a Sikh from the Valley had also brought his son Aveet Pal Singh to celebrate the Christmas Eve while little Vashuda all of four years had impressed upon his father Vijay Choudhary to turn up at the festival with the family.
Burhan, 9, and Sofia, 10, a brother sister duo of Muslims from Gandhi Nagar Jammu said, "Christmas is a joyful festival and we have come to see how they have decorated the Church and the Santa Claus."
