Work stopped at the pit following the demonstration that started in the morning and lasted around four hours. “Some of our employees were temporarily prevented from discharging their duties. The work has resumed and there has been no impact in supplies to customers,” said Essar Oil.

Essar took up the project during the Left tenure in 2008. Villagers alleged they were denied the right price for their land.
