THE NIGHTS are going to be colder once the sky clears. But before that, there is a possibility of more rain, even hail, in the next 24 hours in the state.
Weatherman says the present conditions may take more than 24 hours to clear and the situation would be the same in almost the entire State.
Talking to HT, KP Kulsreshtha, Director MET, Amausi Airport, said: “There is upper air cyclonic circulation over Uttaranchal, another one over north eastern Rajasthan, and also over Punjab and Bihar that together with an upper air trough and western disturbance have created the overcast sky, hazy ambient air, and rain. All this has led to drop in day temperature.”
The moisture feed to the systems is from the Bay of Bengal.
“The day temperature has dropped and may remain low till the sky remains overcast, while the night temperature will stay put as there is a ‘blanketing’ effect due to the clouds. Once the sky clears, days will be warm again for the time being, but night temperature will start falling,” said Kulsreshtha.
In Lucknow, the day temperature fell 8 degree Celsius below normal. The city received 4.1 mm rain.
As weather is said to have a reflection on people’s mood, it did bring about a kind of chirpiness and people looked joyous as they went about doing their activities.
