UP: Clash between two communities after India-Pak match

A clash between members of two communities in Gudri Bazar area of Ballia district late on Sunday night left four persons injured. The incident took place when members of one community were bursting fire crackers after India’s victory over Pakistan in the World Cup match in Adelaide, Australia.

A clash between members of two communities in Gudri Bazar area of Ballia district late on Sunday night left four persons injured. The incident took place when members of one community were bursting fire crackers after India’s victory over Pakistan in the World Cup match in Adelaide, Australia.

A mob also set ablaze a motorcycle. However, no untoward incident was reported on Monday.

According to reports, revelers took to the streets on Sunday night after India defeated Pakistan. When the enthusiastic mob reached Gudri Bazar area, a shop keeper trading in cotton asked them not burst firecrackers asked the group to move ahead.

This led to altercation between the group and the trader, who belonged to another different community. It took an ugly turn when members of the other community also joined the shopkeeper and attacked the revelers. Both sides indulged in heavy brick batting and a motorcycle was set ablaze.

After getting information, a large contingent of police force rushed to the spot and controlled the situation. Cops have detained six persons involved in violence.
