“Give us a little power and we will change the political scenario in UP on the lines of Bihar,” said Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar while addressing an election rally in Sewarahi of Tamkuhiraj constituency in Kushinagar on Monday.

Nitish was campaigning in support of JD(U) candidates. He also said that people had lost faith in politicians due to increasing corruption. “All parties give lectures on corruption but it is the JD(U) led-Bihar government that is doing something about it at the ground level,” said an emphatic Kumar. “In Bihar, right from the minister to the common man everyone is accountable vis a vis their income and property. I have taken action against corrupt police officers, seized their properties and opened schools in their houses,” said Kumar. Attacking the Congress, he said that it had ruled for 54 years but did nothing for the development of the state.

“Now the party (Congress) leaders are doing drama that they had not got a chance to rule in UP,” said Kumar.

Promising good governance in the state if voted to power, Kumar said that the JD (U) would change the face of UP and also its politics. “We paved the path of development in Bihar and showed that everything is possible due to will power and determination,” he emphasised.

“UP is the big brother of Bihar,” said Nitish and added further that it deserved to be governed by a party that would ensure its development. Alleging that the central government was partial in allocating funds for development of Bihar and UP, he said if JD (U) came to power in UP people would get justice with development and also peace and harmony. “There would be no discrimination on caste or religion basis but complete development of all classes and society will be our priority,” he concluded.
