A 16-year-old girl lost a leg allegedly after a youth pushed her off a train near Ramganga station on Saturday. Police have arrested the youth, who had reportedly kidnapped the teenage girl from her village on Friday evening.
According to police, some locals found the girl in a seriously injured near the railway tracks and informed Bhamora police, who rushed her to the district hospital and informed her parents.
After the girl gained consciousness, she told police that she was going to the fields on Friday evening, when Satyaveer, a resident of Milakh Mazra, insisted on accompanying her. When she resisted, Satyaveer abducted her and took her to an unknown location. On Saturday, Satyaveer took her to Ramganga station and forced her to board a train. However, her resistance angered him and he allegedly pushed her off the moving train.
She said one of her legs were caught in the wheels of the train and had to be amputated. Her other leg was also severely injured.
Talking to HT, the girl’s brother alleged, “Satyaveer wanted to take my sister to Punjab. He abducted her on Friday and took her to the station. As she was not ready to comply with his demand, he pushed her off the train. We launched a search for her but couldn’t find her. Later, we received information that she was admitted at the district hospital.”
The Bhamora police have lodged an FIR against Satyaveer on the basis of a complaint submitted by the girl’s parents. A case has been registered under sections 363 (kidnapping) and 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage) of the Indian Penal Code.
Superintendent of police (rural) Brijesh Srivastava said, “A cashe has been registered and Satyaveer has been arrested. We are probing other angles of the case to find out why she was pushed off the train.”
