After Congress president Sonia Gandhi ridiculed the Third Front, CPI general secretary A B Bardhan today claimed UPA was “collapsing” day by day.
“The UPA is collapsing on daily basis. Now PMK has also left them”, Bardhan told PTI after arriving here to attend the joint rally of Left-NCP and BJD in Bhubaneswar on Friday.
RJD chief Lalu Prasad and LJP President Ramvilas Paswan have also pledged to “teach Congress a lesson”, he said.
“Congress ka kya oukat hai, dekhenge (we will see what strength Congress has)”, Bardhan said quoting Lalu and Paswan. “Both Lalu and Paswan not only left UPA but also insulted Congress in public,” he said.
While allies were deserting UPA, it was wrong to criticise the Third Front which was “growing and spreading”, Bardhan said claiming they would form government at the Centre as BJP-led NDA was also losing ground among the people.
Earlier, Sonia Gandhi at an election rally in Berhampur, had rejected the idea of Third Front saying it was “not good for democracy”.
