Director Vijay Kumar Khanna asked officials to examine wires, poles, transformers and the like to find out if the power supplier had followed the safety norms.

Khanna issued directions after the UP Rajya Vidyut Upbhokta Parishad president Avadhesh Kumar Verma complained to him, highlighting growing power accidents in the State.

He pointed out case where human and animal lives had been lost due electric shock and power department officials remaining indifferent to it. He alleged that safety norms were not being followed.

Verma also met Principal Secretary (Energy) and UPPCL chairman AK Khurana to apprise him of the same issue. Verma demanded him to order a Statewide drive to repair damaged poles and wires and providing proper earthings at al the installations.
