Bone China dishes are as delicate as it can be, so it is imperative to handle them with care.
1. Handle with care: Bone china is very delicate and needs to be handled with proper care, otherwise it can chip or break very easily. Instead of piling up your bone china dishes directly into the sink, place a soft towel or rubber at the bottom of the sink to avoid scratches. As far as possible, do not pile up the dishes together.2. Use warm water: Use mild detergents to wash the dishes, and rinse them in warm water. Hand-drying the bone china dishes would be best as leaving it to dry by itself will leave spots on the dish.
3. Store the bone china properly: While storing the dishes, avoid piling them up. If you can’t help but pile them up, then place a rubber or a paper in between the dishes to avoid getting scratches from one another.
4. Microwave-safe: Bone china dinnerware with gold or platinum trim should never be used in the microwave. No ceramic wares of any type should be used in the microwave without food or liquid in them.
5. Maintain room temperature: Keep your bone china dishes at room temperature. Avoid keeping them inside a box in a hot attic or a cold store. Also, while serving hot food, make sure that you have warmed the dishes a little to avoid any crack or chips.
