Three Uttarakhand women have been drawing monthly subsidised food grains on ration cards that had pictures of bollywood stars Kirron Kher, Sonakshi Sinha, and Smita Patil who died in 1986.
The voter identity cards of the women---Sarita Devi, Usha Devi and Meena Devi---too have the pictures of these stars.
While the ration card in Sarita’s name carries Patil’s picture, Usha’s card has Kher’s photo and Sonakshi figures on Meena’s card, said Roorkee district food and supply officer Rahul Sharma.
Under a government order, the oldest woman of a family is designated as the head of a household for receiving food items under the Targeted Public Distribution System. A ration card is required to carry her photo.
“Currently, the government is digitising ration cards for smooth food distribution. During this process, the pictures of the actresses were noticed,” Sharma said.
The ration shop that has been issued ration to the trio has been seized and an inquiry has been ordered probe to find out what went wrong, district magistrate D Santhil Pandiyan said.
“Many more irregularities might surface during the digitisation process,” Pandiyan said.
