Alleging that attempts were being made to cover up the sex scandal that has rocked Uttaranchal, the NCP on Saturday demanded a CBI probe into the matter.
"We are demanding a CBI probe to uncover all those top politicians who are involved in the scandal," NCP state president Surya Kant Dhasmana said, alleging that there were attempts from various quarters to cover-up the matter.
Police claimed to have busted the sex racket with the arrest of eight persons, including Congress leader Anand Suman Singh and three alleged call girls, from the state capital on Thursday.
Singh, also a member of Uttaranchal Literature and Art Council, was on Friday sent to 14 days judicial custody in connection with the scandal.
Describing himself as innocent, Singh said he was being implicated as part of a "political conspiracy."
Meanwhile, BJP has said that the "law would take its own course" in the case.
"However, there should not be any attempt to shield big fishes involved in the scandal," the party's state president Bhagat Singh Koshiyari said.
