Two Class VIII students were arrested for allegedly stabbing a classmate to death on Valentine’s Day in Agra.
The enmity started when the victim, a 15-year-old boy, befriended a girl from the same school. This angered his classmate, who in a fit of jealousy conspired with another classmate. The body of the slain boy was found in a jungle in Malupura village, near Yamuna Expressway, on Thursday.
According to the police, one of the arrested offered the other accused Rs 5,000 to assist him. He had already been paid an advance of R1000 to arrange for a motorcycle.
Police have recovered the knife used in the killing, but details of the conspiracy are yet to be unveiled.
“The knife used by the killers was also recovered. It had a short blade and the boy killed was repeatedly stabbed on his neck and other body parts leading to his death. One of the attackers was also injured, which proved to be a major clue in cracking the case,” said a police officer at the Khandoli police station.
When the boy did not return home on Tuesday, his father — a clerk at a block development office — lodged a report with the police at the Itimad-ud-daula police station on Wednesday.
One of the accused tried to mislead police but later broke down in the face of interrogation. A neighbour, who saw the victim with the two accused, played a crucial role in the investigation.
